Scholarship Opportunities

*Juniors can now have one college visit the second semester without it going against their attendance.  All college visits must be approved in advance by the school counselor.


The application for the NHS scholarship is available on line at https://aim.applyists.net/NHS. This is for National Honor Society members. The deadline for the application is December 7, 2018. If you have question see the school counselor.

As a reminder, all students must apply for the available scholarships online between November 1st and March 1st. 

2018-2019 Scholarship Timeline:

  • November 1 to March 1 - Scholarship Applications are available online
  • March 1 – All scholarship applications are due
  • March 1- 15 – Community Foundation staff review applications
  • March 15 to April 15 – Selection committees review applications online and meet to determine recipients (this allows more time for the review process)
  • April 15 to May 15 – Notifications and paperwork are sent to all applicants
  • July 15 to August 15 – Scholarship checks are issued

If you would like to apply for any of the scholarships, you must submit their application online by March 1.  All applications can be accessed at www.gscf.org as of November 1.

The scholarships for the Greater Salina Community Foundation will be available November 1st on-line at scholarships@gscf.org or you can call Jessica Fuller at 823-1800. There is a scholarship application and eligibility quiz available to help determine which scholarships a student qualifies for. The deadline for the applications is Feb. 15, 2019. Announcing the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Applications are to be completed on line at enf.elks.org/mvs. Deadline for the application is November 15th, 2018. After entries are completed on line send a hard copy to Salina Elks Lodge #718, Scholarship Chairman Mary A. Tanking, 117 North Presley Drive, Salina, Ks 67401-1630. If you have question you can call Mary at 825-1960 or see the school counselor.

The Acacia Fraternity scholarship is available to any male student that is going to attend Kansas State University in Manhattan. They are offering one leadership scholarship for $1,000 and two in the amount of $500 to incoming freshman. You do not have to be associated with the fraternity to apply. The application can be found and submitted online at www.acaciaksstate.org.  The deadline is December 17th, 2018. If you have questions please contact the school counselor.

The Earl Bane Foundation has announced the dates for their scholarship. Ten $2,500 scholarships will awarded to seniors graduating from highs schools in Saline County. The scholarships are renewable for 7 semesters in all criteria are met. The total value of the scholarship could be $20,000. Applications need to be postmark on February 25th and mailed to Earl Bane Foundation, PO Box 201, Salina, Ks 67402-0201. Applications are available in the counseling office. Salina Noon Rotary Club has allocated $7000 to award scholarships to graduating seniors in 2019. Criteria includes a 3.0 GPA, financial need,and someone who demonstrates leadership. The scholarship may be renewed on a year to year basis for total of 4 years at the discretion of the Salina Rotary Club. The application is available in the counseling office with a deadline of March 1, 2019. The application when completed is to be mailed to Salina Rotary Club, P.O. Box 3392, Salina, Ks. 67402-3392.


The Friends of the Library scholarships are available for anyone who volunteered for 30 hours during their high school years and helped with at least one Friends book sale can apply.  Applications are available in the counseling office and the deadline is March 11, 2019.

 The Wendy's Heisman Scholarship is available for any senior who is involved in school sports programs. Apply at Wendysheisman.com.  Any questions contact the counseling office.
